Now on to watercolor paper, and time to paint! Finally!
Also, preview of an edit the client requested on portrait #2! We moved the moon accent from the earring to a long chain down her back- I think it was a great decision : )
After the longest custom commission of my illustration career, I cannot explain to you how bittersweet the end was. Last week, all three Scarlett were signed- and I jest that instead of water I used my own tears to paint the … Continue reading

Early stages of the third and final central portrait for a massive 3-piece custom request I am doing for a collector and dear friend in Switzerland! See the early beginnings of the first two drawings here.
These are about 1/3 complete, and now I’m more like 3/4 finished : ) I’ll post tonights most recent progress shortly! So excited to get these to paint! Illustrated from the breathtaking editorial and cover of December 2011 issue of Vanity Fair shot by Mario Sorrenti.
Destined for the watercolor block- Im calling this girl “Chop Stix” : )
Second illustration in the Series set- series 02. Love the great crease I got down the middle by haphazardly tossing them in my sketchbook and carrying them to the studio to scan : ) but as I mentioned in the first Series post, the added crinkleness is what I’m loving most about these prints now up at Etsy- keeping the natural grayish-tint of the drafting paper and the smudginess from the scan all lend themselves to the feeling I was going for in this set- a sense of whimsical longing or wistful nostalgia- feelings you get from a folded up photo you find in your old things or a movie ticket you saved from your first date. It may be crinkled, faded, but those imperfections remind you that this came from another time and carrying it with you takes you back there. Does this make sense, or am I crazy rambling? : )
The second girl for the Featherhead set! Loove how she turned out, especially the glasses. Or “sunnies” as Phil calls them :3
